Description
At the beginning of the 1970s, the cross-border march was organized and also carried out as a performance test back then, including trophies and medals for the fastest participants. For the revival of the cross-border march, the focus is placed on the experience of nature and camaraderie on the mountain.
The starting point is Taufers in the Münstertal. From here, the route leads along a forest road into the Avigna Valley, past the Mangizalm and finally up hiking trail no. 4 to the small Starlex Hut (not staffed). The path then continues via trail 4 and 4A up to the Fourcla Starlex pass at 2631m. A large part of the nearly 1700 meters of elevation gain is thus already accomplished.
Now begins the descent into the Swiss Val S-charl (pronounced Val Sch-Tscharl) in the municipality of Scuol. Once the valley floor is reached, the route mostly leads gently downhill on a forestry road northward through the valley. The path passes several alpine pastures until the right-branching Val Plazer is reached. Here you ascend on the forestry road up to the Alm of the same name and continue on a good trail up to the S-charl pass (Cruschetta) at 2296m. There are about 9 km of always descending trail left through the Avigna Valley back to the starting point.
