Description
The route mainly runs along wide paths or dirt roads.
Monte Brè makes an excellent start for a hike thanks to its panoramic view overlooking all of Lugano. The charming village of Brè harmoniously combines the typical traditional Ticinese character and modern art: its center features "artistic furnishings" made up of modern artworks by 22 nationally and internationally recognized artists.
Leaving behind the village of Brè, you warm up your muscles heading towards the first stage of the hike: the forest, the setting that will accompany us for most of the day. After a short steep stretch, the route becomes gentler, following a singletrail that leads to Alpe Bolla, a refuge located at the foot of Monte Boglia in a pleasant, welcoming, and sunny setting. We are halfway through the route. Adjacent to the alpine hut is the alpine pasture where you can buy local dairy products and see farm animals (chickens, cows, and pigs).
Then you set off towards Cureggia, following a route mostly made up of dirt roads. The descent reaches Vallà and then climbs back up to the small village of Cureggia from where you take the singletrail back to Brè to conclude this excursion at the foot of Monte Boglia.
Tip for those descending by funicular: before leaving the summit, why not relax comfortably seated on one of the terraces of the Monte Brè restaurants and enjoy the light plays offered by the sunset?
