"Mountain and Ravine", hike, Wald – Alp Scheidegg

Before you start, you have the opportunity in Wald to stock up on fine cheese from the Neff dairy. After a short walk through the village, you soon cross the Schmittenbach, which will later accompany you through the Sagenraintobel. Once in Wald, follow the path always along the stream until a path branches off to the left. Now you climb up to the Josenberg, continuing on to Alp Scheidegg. Enjoy the view here with a delicious meal at the Gasthaus Alp Scheidegg. The path up through the wild romantic Sagenraintobel takes about two hours.

At 1196 meters above sea level, you will be rewarded with a wide panoramic view of the opposite Bachtel, Lake Zurich, and the Glarus Alps. After refreshments at Gasthaus Alp Scheidegg – reservation recommended – or at a campfire along the way, it goes back over 22 bridges and footbridges to Wald.

After a well-deserved break, your path descends through the forest. Arriving at the small parking lot in the village of Hischwil, turn right until the hiking sign on the left side of the road leads you. Hike always downhill into the Jonatobel. If you take the small path off the hiking trail just after the bridge, you will discover the Giessen with the roaring waterfall and the basin with refreshing water. Later, the Jona river winds into the Elbatobel. From there it is only a stone’s throw to the village center of Wald.
