The best place to start is at the railway station along the Steiner Aa and then turn into the Aazopfweg until you reach the entrance to the Auenwald. During the walk, you will be accompanied again and again by informative information boards. In the Auenwald forest there is a barbecue area, the "Aazopf Grillstelle", with a great view of Lake Lauerz and an inviting place to take a short break. Afterwards, simply follow the path until you reach the Aazopfweg again.

To the Au trail

In the past, the area of the Au was repeatedly flooded by the Steiner-Aa. The original course can still be seen in the floodplain forest. Today, the estuary with its transformation zone is a protected river floodplain. Therefore, its biological diversity is also great. You can discover over 1500 different plant species and 40 different woody plants.
