Description

Ascent from Dorfplatz Bettlach on the Giglerbach alluvial cone. Continue past the Grenchen castle ruins of the formerly managed and present-day nature reserve, Bettlachstock, and its old beech forests – listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2021. The route then takes a steep descent past Berggasthof Bettlachberg. Below the Wandfluh ridge, which provides an insight into the geology of the Jura Mountains, continue hiking in the direction of Oberes Brüggli. This is also a great rest stop. Descent with fantastic views of the Lochbach Gorge to Lommiswil Im Holz train station.
