Along Roman paths over the Kerenzerberg

The Römerweg starts in Näfels and leads to Mollis, where the village with its manor houses has national significance. The trail then continues on a moderate incline along the picturesque path lined with dry stone walls to the hamlet of Beglingen. A view to the south and west shows the steep and imposing mountain flanks of the Glärnisch massif, as well as the Rautispitz and Wiggis, the local mountains of Näfels and Netstal respectively. Towards the north, the valley opens up and reveals the view of the Linthebene.

The trail continues up through the Britterwald forest, along the Roman mule track and the cart track to the ruins of the Roman watchtower and the Römerturm Hotel, which invites you to enjoy a meal with the best view of the Churfirsten and Walensee.

From here, you can enjoy a high-altitude hike: along dry stone walls and idyllic meadows, the Römerweg leads through Filzbach over the Reutegg (here you can find a viewing platform of the www.DenkWerkstatt.ch) to Obstalden and on to Walenguflen. On this section, hikers enjoy the magnificent view of Walensee and the Churfirsten range, while the Mürtschenmassif towers up to your right. Hikers encounter yet another highlight of this tour at the charming Sagenbrücke ( Bridge of Legends), which crosses the Meerenbach stream and marks the beginning of the descent towards Mühlehorn. Following the Landesfussweg, you reach Vortobel and the railroad station in Mühlehorn.
