Description
Shortly after starting the hike, you will reach Rütiwald and soon after that Tüfelsburg, one of the largest earthen castles on the Swiss Plateau. Its 10-metre high castle hill is surrounded by several moats and ramparts – these probably had more of a ritualistic than defensive significance. In Bibern, you’ll reach the valley of the same name. You have now reached the heart of Bucheggberg. Agriculture is the dominant feature here. The ups and downs over fields and forests continue. After the solar village of Hessigkofen, follow the forest hike to Brügglen and learn all sorts of useful information about the forests of the Swiss Plateau. Mülitäli is particularly idyllic – many years ago, its stream powered mills and pounding machines. In nearby Buchegg, the castle, restaurant and vineyards beckon you to take a detour. You’ll then continue through Oberholz in the direction of Felli, where jazz greats like Dollar Brand once played. From Lüterkofen, it is not far to the Lohn-Lüterkofen train station.
