679 Maloja Express

The route of the Maloja Express starts at the Malojapass, with a view back to the Engadin lake district, and then winds down breezily on the tight hairpin bends of the pass road into Bergell, the Val Bregaglia, the valley of the Giacometti artist family. The route passes all Bergell villages, partly through old chestnut forests, up to the national border in Castasegna. Flat sections alternate with steep and demanding ascents and descents. But the downhill meters to be covered far outweigh the uphill, which makes the route a great pleasure!

Along the way, there is the opportunity to visit the old villages with their numerous historical sites, be it castle ruins, churches or palazzi with an Italian flair. In the various restaurants of the valley, delicious local specialties await bikers. Some restaurants also offer the possibility to check bicycles so you can continue refreshed and safely.
