Description
Surrounded by impressive snow peaks, along the string of clear Upper Engadin lakes it goes to St. Moritz, where the beautiful and wealthy meet. However, the route follows the beauties of the landscape: nutcrackers in the Stazer Forest, the cold Inn river rushing beside us, the clear and fresh air. And Engadin delicacies are available in every village.
After the transport hub Samedan, we reach La Punt-Chamues-ch with its magnificent patrician houses. At the edge of the wide plain are villages, mighty houses telling stories of harsh winters. We ride up and down along the edge of the national park, founded in 1914 as the first nature park in Central Europe. Calm as the flap of an eagle’s wing, the grand nature of the Engadin presents itself.
From Zernez, the valley narrows, the Inn becomes wilder. After a hearty climb, you reach the picture-book village Guarda and the diverse terrace landscape in the Lower Engadin. In Scuol, you can smell the mineral springs in the iron taste of the fountain water, the thermal bath revitalizes tired muscles. Small enchanted villages on the sunny terraces of the dry valley testify to early settlement. After Martina, the Inn rages in a gorge before it can escape into Tyrol at the eerie Burgbrücke Finstermünz.
