246 Ilanz-Castrisch floodplain circular route

The hike leads from Fontanivas over the suspension bridge into a magnificent, wide meadow landscape. Past Sevgein and around the castle hill of Castrisch, the trail descends to the Isla Sut nature reserve at the entrance to the Ruinaulta, the Rhine gorge. From the peninsula on the young Rhine, it is not far to Castrisch with its picturesque village center. A cultural highlight is the Protestant church of S. Gier with its 14th century church tower, which is a listed building. From here, the romantic hiking trail leads through secluded riverside forests and nature reserves along the Vorderrhein. The backdrop of the Brigels mountains and Piz Mundaun is a sight to behold. On the outskirts of Ilanz, the Glenner is followed for a short distance back to the starting point.
