Description

The start of this short but snappy route is at the mountain station of the Kandersteg-Sunnbüel aerial cableway. First, it goes down a bit, past the hut at the rock face. Then the trail steadily but fairly climbs up.

If you have a heart rate monitor, try to stay in the three/orange zone. If your pulse is too high, slow down a bit, even if you have to walk a few steps. Those who practice this often get a feeling for when they enter the exhausting zone. Helps on long and steep routes.

Despite all the technique & training, don’t forget to enjoy the path. With every step, the view becomes better. Just before the ridge saddle, it slopes down somewhat again; walking helps here too for safety.

The path is now on the Ueschenentaler side and sometimes climbs the mountain quite steeply. By then, poles definitely help. Soon you’ll see the end and be rewarded with an invaluable view.
