Via Alta Vallemaggia - Stage 8S: Capanna Poncione di Braga-Robièi

The trail from the Capanna Poncione di Braga stretches in a gentle ascent over pastures and stone slabs to the Lago della Froda. From there, the path climbs steeply and stonily to the wide saddle of the Bocchetta della Froda. On the left side the Poncione di Braga, on the right Mottone. The pass offers a sweeping view of countless peaks, first of all the Basòdino, the second highest massif in the Ticino Alps, crowned by its glacier, the largest in the canton. There are many animals to see in this area, such as ibexes. From now on it's all downhill. In the direction of Robièi, the trail leads past Lago Nero and Lago Bianco. Robièi is a popular destination for excursions, as it can be easily reached by cable car from San Carlo.
