Val Mara - Valle di Muggio

Continue on foot from the centre of Arogno, heading for Monte Generoso along a well-marked path that takes us through typical woodland, offering welcome shade on a hot day. 

After about half an hour's walk you reach the peaceful Alpe di Melano oasis, the ideal place to stop and rest, enjoying the splendid view of Monte San Giorgio.

The route continues to the Bellavista middle station of the Monte Generoso railway. Here you can stop at the renovated buffet and enjoy one of the most scenic panoramic points, with a breath-taking view of the Lugano lake and the Alpine chain: from Monte Rosa to the Matterhorn, from the Jungfrau to the Gotthard massif. 

From here the path becomes wider and more comfortable, and you will reach the summit at 1704 m/a.s.l. after about 1h30 walking time. 

Continuing on, you descend along a steep path in the direction of Alpe Sella. You will cross meadows and pastures until you reach Scudellate in the Upper Muggio Valley.
