The Apple Path of Altnau

Altnau has slightly elevated and directly at Bodensee situated more apple trees than inhabitants - and a marvellous view over Bodensee. The Apple Path shows how important fruit growing is for the culture of generations in this village. Newly designed information boards with riddles about apple varieties inform visitors about the apple growing region and the rosy-cheeked fruit. The three apple mascots Fredi, Lisi and Emma talk with children from the boards at eyelevel and present funny interactive offers.

The trip through the village starts at the train station and is also ideal for biking tours. Benches and picnic spots invite you to take a rest. A special place to relax is the «Altnauer Steg» (Altnau Stage), which is the longest stage at Bodensee with its 270 metres. Also in the farm shops, village shop and restaurants in Altnau everything revolves around apples - nowhere in Thurgau «Öpfelchüechli» taste better than here!

This excursion is especially beautiful in May during the blossom of apple trees or in late summer during the «Altnauer Apfelwochen» (Apple Weeks of Altnau) with its autumn market on the last day.
