SwitzerlandMobility 26: Eastern Switzerland Wine Route Stage 1

Description
Shortly after Schaffhausen, the masses of water at the Rhine Falls, then a foray through the Zurich wine country with its timber-framed houses, idyllic and peaceful lies the Husemersee. The valley of the Thur soon appears, with vines growing on its sun-drenched flanks.
Viticulture was already known to the monks who founded the Ittingen Charterhouse. It is still quiet in the former monks' houses, while the treasures of the Thurgau Art Museum await discovery in the convent. The Frauenfeld armoury rattles in the distance, the route leads along the vine-covered Ottenberg through the small town of Weinfelden.
The historic centre of Bischofszell looks sober and cool. The canning factory rattles along the River Sitter. Golfers also appreciate the green plateaus of the Fürstenland with its deep creek cuts, before cyclists' senses are taken over by the hustle and bustle of the industrial corridor between Gossau and St. Gallen.
