Description

Round shapes are not only prevalent in the landscape; almost all the stones in the subsoil are also rounded: Gravel, crushed stone and sand. Sometimes they are baked together and solidified. Then they even form smaller rock faces. Sometimes they lie in a loose jumble. In other places, they are neatly sorted by size. Many people know that pebbles and sand are transported by rivers and are therefore usually found in the riverbed; but how did these vast quantities of pebbles and sand get to the highest heights in Thurgau? The riddles of the round stones lead to traces of huge glaciers, wide rivers that travelled towards the Mediterranean and even to the bottom of the sea.

The Geo-Route follows these traces. It takes you on an exciting journey of discovery through the geological diversity and captivating landscape of Thurgau.
