Description

A peaceful symbiosis in the Scharenwald forest: hidden old bunkers from the Second World War and rare forest communities share the tranquil forest reserve on the Rhine. The medieval bridge town of Diessenhofen is also located on the river. The Stammheim vineyards lie flat with their many magnificent timber-framed houses.

While the Hüttwilersee lakes still twinkle below, the route slowly climbs up to the Seerücken, the flat range of hills. The route leads peacefully and unspectacularly through meadows and small forests, past solitary farms with their mighty walnut trees. The orchards multiply.

The two Bommer Weier are romantic, the inns are rare, the erratic boulders in Schwaderloh are primeval and the panoramic views of the Alps are spectacular. Lake Constance occasionally appears in the distance, but the route remains in the quiet hinterland before reaching the shores of the Roman town of Arbon.
