Description
Between Ilanz and Reichenau, the Vorderrhein has milled a huge gorge through the rubble of the Flims landslide. In the wild canyons, you can experience pure adrenaline during river rafting, or you can hike along rugged rock formations. A well walkable hiking trail along the Rhine also offers great opportunities to grill, create stone figures or to bathe your feet. Even orchids can be found here. If you prefer it more comfortable, you can also discover the Rhine Gorge by train or by post bus. We experience the Rhine Gorge with the Rhaetian Railway and the PostBus. With the Ruinaulta ticket we can use the public transport in and around the Ruinaulta for a whole day. The Ruinaulta tickets can be bought in the guest information Flims, Laax or Falera. The hike leads along the Rhine, through short forest sections and past wide meadows to Versam station. From there we have two options for the way back: From Versam station we take the train to Trin station and walk about 1 hour up to the post bus stop Trin Digg Porclis on the main road and drive from there by post bus to Flims or we take the train to Ilanz and from there the Postbus to Flims with a short change in Laax Post.
While at higher altitudes there is at best already snow, the trails in the valley are still free of snow. Our interactive snow depth map helps you to plan your tour. Here you can see at a glance at www.flims.com/schneesituation where you can already expect snow on the paths and trails and where you can still be on the road without getting cold feet.
