Description

The culinary city stroll starts at the railway station in St.Gallen. The route then takes you past the Stadtlounge and the Stiftsbezirk (which you will see again later). The ascent begins via St.Georgen-Strasse and Wildeggstrasse via Speicherstrasse until you turn right through a forest. The Scheitlinsbüchel restaurant will spoil you with fresh, regional and seasonal cuisine. After the starter, a leisurely walk through the Drei Weieren recreation area follows. Did you know that the lakes were artificially created during the textile era to provide water for the textile bleaching works and fire brigades? The beautiful historic Art Nouveau wooden buildings at today's bathing ponds are also a reminder of St.Gallen's past as a textile metropolis. Make a stop at the Grand Tour of Switzerland photo spot and take a souvenir photo with a breathtaking view of the city. On the way, enjoy a magnificent view over the city of St.Gallen and Lake Constance. You descend via the Mülenen Gorge into the Old Town.  You pass Gallusplatz, the Stiftsbezirk and the Tourist Information Centre, which is also located in Bankgasse. The Barz restaurant serves you a well-earned main course.  Afterwards, take a stroll through the Grabenpärkli with its eye-catching red barrel, from which water flows in the warmer months. The work of art was created by Roman Signer and is called the ‘Water Tower’.  It is one of the town's landmarks and is now over 30 years old. A short time later, you arrive at the Brauwerk restaurant, Schützengarten's creative brewery. The crowning finale awaits you. Enjoy a sweet dessert and one of the many craft beers brewed on site.
