Description
Visible from afar is Gutenberg Castle, which towers about 70m above Balzers. After passing the medieval castle, the Liechtenstein route takes us through the municipality of Balzers and then over the old Roman road to Triesen. Right through the old village district, we then reach the area of the former Jenny, Spörry & Cie cotton weaving mill.
From the Gasometer cultural centre in Triesen, the route steadily ascends to St. Mamerten Chapel. There, you can relax comfortably and enjoy the peace and the wonderful view towards Balzers. Afterwards follows the ascent to the Walser village of Triesenberg. The village centre lies at about 900 meters above sea level. Triesenberg originated in the 13th/14th century from a Walser settlement and has honoured its history and traditions throughout all these years.
