Description
Although the route starts in the famous spa town, nature is not long in coming. The trail soon leads up to the Gebenstorfer Horn, where there is a magnificent view of Switzerland's unique moated castle. This is where the mighty Aare, Reuss and Limmat rivers meet.
Along the Aare, the route passes the old town of Brugg before entering the Jurapark Aargau, a regional nature park. The trail leads through shady forests to the striking lime tree of Linn, a legendary summer lime tree that is considered the tallest tree in the canton with a height of 25 meters and a trunk circumference of 11 meters. The benches beneath the leafy canopy invite you to take a leisurely break before the final section.
Now the name says it all: there are three passes to pass. From the Staffelegg, the trail leads through idyllic landscapes over the Benkerjoch to the Salhöhe. From there, you pass the Geissfluegrat, the highest point in Aargau, to the Barmelweid clinic.
