Description

The Höh invites you to take an attractive circular hike. From Kandersteg railway station, head north towards the weir. The path along the banks of the steaming Kander, whose banks are covered with glittering hoarfrost crystals on cold winter days, is charming. After crossing under the Lötschberg railway line at the barrage weir, the trail first follows a tarred road, then branches off and heads uphill along a forest path. The sparse rays of the winter sun, which are particularly appreciated in Kandersteg due to the towering surrounding mountains, are often only able to penetrate the dense forest for a short time during the ascent. When walking along the winter hiking trail, keep to the pink-coloured signs that guide you to the Höh site. From there, it is worth taking a short detour to the Höh vantage point with its charming view of Kandersteg and the surrounding peaks. Go through woodland and along the edge of the forest on quiet forest paths down to the houses of Bütschels. There you turn left towards the railway line and follow it to Kandersteg station, which you reach through the extended platform subway.

Please note that the "Höh" trail is partly available for shared use for cross-country skiing, hiking, horse riding and snowshoeing.
