The Brenno Floodplain

Description
A pleasant hike of about 8 km and 300 m of altitude difference lets visitors savour the Lukmanier region easily while discovering the Brenno River and its meandering bends which, with their particularly sinuous forms, reflect the freedom that the Brenno River still has here.
In fact, it is the waters and the deposits of the river that shape the delicate forms of the riverbed which create an exemplary alpine fluvial landscape that regenerates a rich and unique ecosystem after each flood.
The route starts at the Centro Pro Natura Lucomagno in Acquacalda and crosses the road up towards the old Alpe Pozzetta before descending to Samprou and to Casaccia via a dirt road. Here the InfoPoint (open during the summer months) provides more information about the region.
Cross the road once again and from here continue first along the trail and then along a flat dirt road to the source of the Brenno River.
Here the water gushes from a large rocky boulder, emerging into the sunlight. Go ahead and touch it; the water is clear and pure.
Cross the small bridge to find Alpe del Pertusio, the end point of the route, where fresh milk, hard cheese, soft cheese, ricotta and butter are produced and sold.
Return to Acquacalda by following the right bank of the Brenno River, passing through Alpe Gana and Ai Pini.
