Gitzifurka 2'911m

This popular ski tour begins with a comfortable cable car ride to the Hockenhorngrat (3086 m). From there, a short ascent leads to the saddle between the Hockenhorn and Kleinhockenhorn - an ideal point for a detour to the summit of the Hockenhorn (3293 m).

This is followed by a first long descent over the western ridge of the Kleinhockenhorn down to the Lötschen Pass and on to the lowest point below the pass summit (approx. 2670 m). From there you ascend in a wide right-hand curve to the Gitzifurggu (2911 m).

The second, varied descent leads via Tschal, Flüealp and Majingalp through sparse forest to the Majingsee lake and onwards across meadows and forest paths down to Leukerbad. A possible detour to the summit at P. 2980 above the Gitzifurggu is worthwhile in safe conditions.
