Description
The Gantrisch is a cross-country skiing paradise par excellence: a wonderful Alpine panorama with views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, views of Lake Thun, snow-covered forests and 45km of perfectly groomed trails await you here.
Starting from the Selital, there is a first ascent to the log cabin of the cross-country centre. After that, the trail leads in gentle ups and downs towards the watershed. On the first section, the magnificent panorama with Bürgle, Gantrisch and Nünenenfluh is always in view. At the turnaround point you have to master another ascent. The effort is rewarded with a view of the Bernese Alps and the Thun region.
The trail leads back slightly above the route already covered. It now leads mainly through the forest. Inexperienced cross-country skiers follow the "easy descent" sign down to the road about halfway.
For all others, the varied trail offers short ascents and crisp descents.
The trail can also be run from the watershed. It can be reached by post bus from Schwarzenburg, Riggisberg Post and Thurnen railway station.
