Ferdinand Gehr trail

The famous painter spent much of his life in Altstätten, where he also created many of his works or art. The artist and honorary citizen of Altstätten often followed the path of the current Ferdinand Gehr trail on his walks. The path runs along the forest, not far from the town through the middle of the vineyard, passing a forest chapel and his former house and studio. The artist made the colourful stained glass windows in the forest chapel and a mural can be seen on the façade of the house on Harztannenstrasse.
