Description

The village of Bosco Gurin is located at an altitude of 1504 meters and is a very popular destination for winter sports. Thousands of people visit this idyllic mountain village every year, attracted by the many activities it offers. Not only the slopes, but also the center of Bosco Gurin is worth a visit for its history and characteristic appearance.

The village was founded in 1253 by the Walser, a population that came from nearby Italy and, even earlier, from Valais. Even today, you can marvel at the typical buildings built using the "Blockbau" log construction method.

The snowshoe route is a short circular hike that starts in the hamlet of Ferder, above the village of Bosco Gurin. Towards Endra Staful, the trail climbs through the fantastic snowy landscape with a view of Bosco Gurin. Below the Bawald protective forest, the trail leads to Metschu and descends steeply to Ferder, the starting point of the itinerary. Along the way, there are some Walser buildings to admire.

If you are lucky, during your walk you may meet the Weltu, the small and friendly forest inhabitants with backward feet who watch over the livestock of Bosco Gurin's residents when the snow is too high or the weather is bad.
