Description
From Elgg station, follow the road along the old village center to the entrance of the Fahrenbach gorge, where the path begins to climb. On the way through the gorge, you pass a waterfall and many small bridges until you reach the Guhwilmill. From there, continue on beautiful forest paths over the hamlet of Scheunberg and after a short but steep ascent, you will have reached the Schauenberg castle ruins.
At the top, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Alps and the Hegau volcanic region. Today, only a few wall remains and an information board recall the eventful times Schauenberg has seen.
The first stage of the descent also starts steeply down to the intersection at Tannweid. From here, follow the path through the forest that brings you to Neugrüt and Schnurrberg. Refresh yourself at the with a drink and enjoy a regional snack. Listen to the beautiful sound of the bells and enjoy nature. Refreshed, you take the last stretch through the forest that brings you back to Turbenthal.
