Description

The Energy Trail was designed and built in anticipation of the opening of the Gotthard wind park in 2021. Due to its location in the high mountains, it is recommended to be walked in summer or early autumn.

A circular route that winds its way between the five majestic wind turbines that rise above the pass at 2091 metres above sea level and leads to the discovery of the Gotthard's energy resources. It is accessible to everyone, with no particular difficulties, a length of just over 5 km and a walking time of about 2.5 hours.

This walk offers the opportunity to visit the wind park live to all those who are interested, to the numerous tourists passing over the Pass and especially to school children. As well as presenting the park, the seven stations along the route offer food for thought on the past and invite visitors to reflect on the future of renewable energy resources in Ticino.

The route, which also touches on the Lucendro dam, offers glimpses of the landscape of the Pass and allows tourists to admire the beauty of unspoilt nature in the middle of the Alpine chain with the imposing peaks that distinguish the scenery of the Gotthard.

The panorama presented to the hiker is further enriched by the scenic effects that can be admired on sunny days when the sky and the mountains are reflected in the clear waters of Lake della Piazza.
