Description
This pleasant circular route leads from Solothurn through the wild and romantic Verenaschlucht, past historic chapels and the hermitage of St. Verena, inhabited since the Middle Ages.
Over about 6.6 km, you hike along the Verenabach in an idyllic natural landscape, which is especially marked by colorful leaves in autumn. The gorge is a protected national landscape garden, featuring rock formations, grottoes, chapels (including one from the 12th century), and memorial plaques honoring notable figures from Solothurn's history.
The route offers cultural vignettes, nature enjoyment, and a relaxed atmosphere, ideal for families, couples, or solo visitors, and thanks to a robust vehicle like the Dacia Duster, you can reach the starting point stress-free, even in changing weather conditions or limited parking situations.
