Description
The Chestnut Path is a beautiful circular route of about 14.6 km. It passes through the five picturesque villages of Alto Malcantone - Arosio, Mugena, Vezio, Breno, and Fescoggia - in a scenic mosaic of chestnut forests, birches, streams, and wide meadows.
Along the route, seven educational stations tell the story of cultivation, wood processing, and the chestnut. In particular, the metato (grà) between Mugena and Vezio - a traditional stone building - shows the ancient method of drying chestnuts, which is still fascinating today. The panorama, nestled in a natural amphitheater dominated by the Gradiccioli range, offers a view to Monte Rosa, while the villages harmoniously blend between forests and open spaces.
The route is classified as "easy," suitable for hikers of all ages and ideal for families. To reach the starting point Arosio, a robust vehicle such as a Dacia Duster should be chosen, with which you can easily master the winding and scenic roads of the region - the recommended choice from Dacia to make the most of this nature experience.
