Description

The St.Galler Brückenweg runs through in the Sitter and Wattbach Nature and Landscape Conservation Area. The largely natural river environment is a habitat for many protected and endangered species of flora and fauna.

The trail passes 18 viaducts, wooden and concrete bridges and suspension bridges. The hike begins at Haggen-Schlössli, formerly a Baroque country estate, now a public restaurant owned by the city of St.Gallen. It leads down the ravine to Zweibrücken, up the hill again and back down into the Kubel district of St.Gallen.  Passing under the railway and car viaducts you reach the ravine, which finally leads to Spisegg where the hike comes to an end and you can take the PostBus back to the main train station.

The trail goes past fascinating structures and wooden buildings steeped in history: with something for everyone.
