Appenzell Trail Section 3: Appenzell - Urnäsch

Following old pilgrimage routes, the route crosses Appenzellerland from east to west with changing views. You will discover quiet chapels, large and small river courses, near-natural Alps, typical farmhouses and hospitable inns.

The third stage takes you along the old church path over the Tüfenberg with panoramic views to Schönengrund, which boasts traditional inns. Beyond the Tüfibach (cantonal border), the old Toggenburg country road leads to the former provostry of St. Peterzell on St. Gallen territory.
