Description
From the heart of Campo Vallemaggia, following the path that starts above the beautiful village church, after a flat stretch that allows you to get used to the snow, you enter a forest characterized by the presence of majestic larches.
The climb is challenging, the landscape extraordinary. Some flat clearings invite a stop. The treetops frame the splendid view of the village that seems to have remained suspended in time. Shortly after, you encounter a wetland biotope fed by a watercourse bordered by wooden barriers. This is one of the 28 surface water evacuation channels built during the past century to stop the well-known landslide movement.
A little further on you reach Corte Nuovo, an open space dotted with rural buildings recalling the important alpine exploitation of the sunny side of the Val Rovana. In fact, the farmyards of the Quadrella alp are a testament to the centuries-old relationship between man and nature that has shaped this territory.
Behind us towers the Bombögn, an iconic mountain marked by the presence of the great wall that was used to protect the pastures of Campo Vallemaggia. The hike continues gently accompanied by a splendid view of Cimalmotto.
The return route from Cimalmotto to Campo Vallemaggia is a beautiful walk immersed in the larch forest crossed by some of the watercourses that mark the slope.
