Description

The ridge hike on the way to the small Froburg town of Waldenburg with its castle ruins is challenging and worthwhile with many views from Fluhen. At the top of the Belchenfluh there is a wonderful vantage point at 1098.8 meters above sea level with panoramic views and information boards, which attracts many hikers and walkers from the surrounding area. A wonderful hiking area stretches between Eptingen, Waldenburg and Langenbruck: romantic paths over rocky ridges invite you to climb up to the Belchenfluh at 1098.8 m with a unique panoramic view. The viewpoint is located on the highest point of the Swiss Belchen on the border between Baselland and Solothurn and is best reached on foot. On clear days, you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of the Black Forest, the Vosges mountains and the Alps. You can even see as far as Mont Blanc! The Belchenfluh is easy to reach from the Chilchzimmersattel and the Challhöchi. The last section of the trail to the rocky summit is steep, but secured with handrails.

Note: The section between Lauchfluh - Gerstelfluh and the ruins of Waldenburg Castle is classified as a mountain trail. It has exposed sections and caution is advised, especially in wet weather. Good hiking boots and walking poles are recommended.
