Description

On this varied route, you will come across many cultural, historical and natural highlights. From "Papa Moll-Land", which will make the hearts of little ones beat faster, you will pass the wooden drilling rigs in Rietheimer Moos. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Swiss soda factory mined salt here, but salt extraction was discontinued in the 1960s. Today, electricity takes centre stage: eleven power stations tame the High Rhine between Schaffhausen and Basel. Nevertheless, it flows powerfully past dreamy riverside paths, straight asparagus fields, timber-framed houses and Roman ruins. In Koblenz, it takes the Aare with it, which carries even more water than the Rhine to the confluence of the two giants, and is also powerful at the customs station in Koblenz. Take a quick look at the Giriz nature reserve and continue along a beautiful section of the route towards Leibstadt. In Full, the rooster crows majestically over farmhouses and the white smoke from the nuclear power plant, which drifts leisurely into the sky. The ride through the beautiful meadow landscape near Schwaderloch is quiet and enjoyable and soon you reach Laufenburg. Surrounded by wooded banks, beautifully situated in the bend of the river - definitely one of the most beautiful little towns on the High Rhine. Between Kaisten and Stein, you cycle through Hard past Kies und Beton AG Holcim. The gravel is beautifully reflected in the glow of the sun, and at Wallbach, small rubber boats cavort on the Rhine. Great importance is attached to maintaining the banks and the Swiss are connected to the Germans in Wallbach by ferry and ferry cable. Off Möhlin, the "Chräbis" fishermen's guild serves fine fish, fillets and whole pike on certain days. The hazelnut and blackberry bushes are also a delight for cyclists, as is the ride through refreshing sections of forest between Wallbach and Möhlin. However, only the southern wall of the Roman watchtower at Möhlin-Untere Wehren remains. Finally, Rheinfelden, the oldest Zähringer town in Switzerland, awaits you with its large town park, the charming medieval town centre - and of course Feldschlösschen Castle, bursting with hops and malt, whose beer has been part of the Danish brewery group Carlsberg since 2000.
