Description

From the start point at Engelberg Abbey’s artisan cheese dairy, you walk straight ahead towards Bänklialp. After you cross the bridge, turn right and follow the Aa river to the valley station of the Titlisbahnen. The funicular railway is a quick and easy way for families with young children to cover the ascent up to Gerschnialp. Once you’ve arrived at the top, walk through the woods and across a meadow to the Untertrübsee restaurant, which serves fine Swiss cuisine. After a few metres’ walk along the tarmac road, the Untertrübsee cheese dairy will come into view on the left-hand side. From there, you take the same route back, but when the road forks by the woods don’t take the path back down to the valley station – instead, cross the meadow underneath the Engelberg-Trübsee-Stand aerial cableway and keep walking until you reach the Gerschnialp dairy. After that it’s just a short walk to the Gerschnialp restaurant, which also serves fine Swiss cuisine. You can then head down the hill on the right through the Gerschniwald woods and towards Engelberg, emerging from the woods at the Bänklialp.

Please note that depending on weather conditions (snow conditions) not all alpine cheese dairies are occupied in June.
