In winter, the cultural offerings in the cities are at their best. On the other hand, excursions into nature away from the main routes – between the federal capital, Zurich, the Linth area and the St. Gallen Oberland as far as Chur – are very attractive. In winter, the diverse regions are covered in snow, inviting you to enjoy many experiences in nature and winter sports.

Feasting and sledging above Lake Walen

The intermediate sledging run on Flumserberg offers a total of 3 kilometres of sledging fun for all the family. The route runs from Prodalp to Tannenheim, with the start next to the Prodalp mountain restaurant, which serves hearty dishes to fortify you for the descent.

Hike in the footsteps of the Romans over the Kerenzerberg. After the ascent from Näfels or Mühlehorn, you will find what is probably the most beautiful view of Lake Walen, the surrounding mountains and the Linth plain in the restaurant of the Hotel Römer Turm in Filzbach.

Visit the charming fondue chalet in the middle of Zurich

In November and December, in the middle of the Dörfli Christmas market in Zurich's Niederdorf, a fondue chalet invites you to uncomplicated evenings full of Swiss Alpine charm and delicacies on Grossmünsterplatz.

The Grand Resort Bad Ragaz also offers a great fondue.

The Zollstube restaurant at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz is a cosy place. As the Swiss-German menu suggests, the Zollstube only serves the finest Swiss specialities.

At the Aare, dipping bread into cheese

You can enjoy fondue, raclette and fondue chinoise in the cosy little Aare Chalet right on the river. Situated by the old wooden bridge and the picturesque house facades of the old town, the chalet welcomes guests to the Aarebistro terrace until the end of January 2025.

Sitting in the pan for a fondue

At the Arvenbüel restaurant in Amden, fondue is served all day. On the terrace, groups of four to six people can book a giant fondue pot and eat fondue while literally sitting in the pan – a fondue experience in a class of its own.

Experience a legendary evening tour of Chur

On selected Wednesdays, you can experience a different side to Chur. On a mystical lantern-lit tour through the winding alleys of the old town, you will follow the night watchman through the Obertor into the old town – and into another world. In the face of mystical places and historic buildings, stories and legends merge into vivid experiences.
