Schnitzeljagd und Rätselspass Treno Mistero: Davide Cipollata auf der Flucht

Treno Mistero - The treasure on the Gotthard

Combine the journey over the Gotthard panoramic route with an escape game: A game for all ages from eight years upwards

Who can find out where the miners' gold is? This modern scavenger hunt is all about finding the way to the destination. During the journey on the Treno Gottardo, puzzles are solved and the solution to the fictional story that took place along the route is sought.

How it works

The game is played in the Treno Gottardo between Arth-Goldau and Bellinzona. Only those who solve all the puzzles in time will find out where the miners' gold is. Some of the puzzles require you to move around on the train, while others can be solved from your seat. The game is available for CHF 30 and can be played by 1 to 6 people.

Duel version

A duel version can also be played within each difficulty level, for example two families can compete against each other. The price of CHF 60 includes two starter kits. At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins. However, the winning team is not necessarily the team that solves the puzzles faster. The faster you complete the game and the fewer hints you use, the more points you will have at the end.

Equipment

To play, you need a mobile phone, an app and a physical starter kit containing mysterious utensils. If the group consists of more than 3 people, a tablet is more suitable so that everyone has a good view of the screen and the puzzles. Players receive the game box directly on the train from the customer attendant upon presentation of the QR code on the order confirmation.

Difficulty levels

«The Treasure at the Gotthard» is a challenging game and is divided into three different levels of difficulty:

  • Easy: Puzzle fun for families with lots of help - the puzzles can be solved by children aged eight and over with adult support.

  • Medium: Challenging version of the game for adults and families with older children - our ‘version for everyone’ who wants to experience exciting, entertaining puzzle fun on the go.

  • Professional: Very challenging version for tricky puzzlers and experienced escape players (official escape category: medium difficulty).

Treno Mistero – the story

The story of the mystery train begins with the construction of the Gotthard tunnel in 1872. With the story of Davide Cipollata. He was one of the original miners who came from Italy to work on the construction of the Gotthard tunnel from 1872. In 1875, Davide and five of his comrades exchanged their wages for gold. That same year, the workers on the tunnel construction site went on strike. When the unrest surrounding the strike was bloodily suppressed, Davide disappeared with all the gold and headed for the mountains, intending to return to his homeland in Piedmont. However, one of his comrades followed him. He caught up with him and, in the process, an accident occurred. Davide fell down a mountain to his death – with the gold. The gold seemed lost. A year later, however, a Gotthard railway engine driver discovered the treasure and took it for himself. This engine driver was the great-grandfather of a customer attendant who works for the SOB. Now that the SOB is running the Treno Gottardo to Bellinzona and Locarno, the customer attendant feels the time has come to return the Gotthard treasure to the SOB customers. Only those who can find out where the treasure was hidden will get the treasure. Who will find the miners' gold?

With the Treno Mistero, the SOB is launched its own scavenger hunt on the Treno Gottardo. The puzzle trail was developed together with Urban-Escape.

And now, let's get started! With the new game on our trains, the journey to Ticino will fly by in no time. Have fun playing.
