Lake Walen
One of the cleanest lakes in Switzerland
The area around Lake Walen surprises with its mild climate, which helps grapes to ripen. The fjord-like lake, on the shores of which steep slopes rise over 1000 meters high, is one of the cleanest lakes in Switzerland. Although its water temperature is usually a few degrees colder than that of the neighboring lakes (it rarely gets above 20 degrees in summer), it enjoys great popularity. Lake Walen is an Eldorado for water sports enthusiasts: diving, windsurfing and kitesurfing, rowing, wakeboarding, pedalo and kayaking, stand-up paddling (SUP) - everything is possible. There is also a wide range of sports schools and equipment hire.
In addition to some wild bathing spots, there are several lidos along the shore. The Gäsi sandy beach on Lake Walen is a particularly idyllic place to relax. There is also a beach volleyball court and a children's playground. The beach is open to the public and is surrounded by a protected forest that offers plenty of space to explore.
