Voice from the region:

“The Hinterberg cable car takes me to the Hinterbergen. If you're lucky, you'll see chamois grazing on the meadow at Felmisegg in the morning. The hiking trail now climbs steeply over the ladder to the summit. At the top left you come to an iron summit cross. The people of Gersau erected this for their mountain a few years ago. From this point, you can see the magnificent Alpine chain and, of course, the village of Gersau in the valley. After a brief moment of enjoyment, I head straight to the summit cross of the Vitznauerstock. Here I enjoy the evening atmosphere and the wide view of the Mittelland. I take a close look at the village of Vitznau, my home, from above. See if I can make out the cross of the church, which has been aligned with the cross on the Vitznauerstock since the last renovation. After enjoying the view for a while and resting, I have a drink at the summit, which is a must up here. With such natural beauty, I have totally lost track of time. The sun is already low. So I quickly make an entry in the summit book. Now it's a steep descent to Oberurmi and on to Wissiflue. The woolly pigs at the Wissiflue are still doing splendidly. At Mähris I enjoy another magnificent panoramic view. The path leads me to oberer Rengg and then back to Vitznau.” - Othmar Nietlispach
