Villa dei Cedri Museum
Description
It was opened to the public in 1985 and contains a permanent collection dedicated to art in the areas of Ticino, Lombardy and Switzerland from the second half of the nineteenth century up to the present day. The Museum is particularly appreciated by visitors for its park, the layout of which is unique in the Bellinzona region, and for the vineyard located behind the villa which produces the much-loved Merlot.
The Museum's collection includes works representing the transition from realism to symbolism, 20th-century themes, and informal art. The highlight is the extensive collection of works on paper, which reflects the artists' more intimate side and makes up two-thirds of the collection. Additionally, the Museum boasts monographic collections created about twenty years ago, dedicated to artists like Massimo Cavalli, Ubaldo Monico, and other notable artists.
The Museum offers, upon written request, guided tours for groups (up to 25 participants) of all current exhibitions at the Museo Villa dei Cedri (duration: about an hour). Price: CHF 180.- (Italian) / CHF 200.- (other languages).
