Salt derricks

Description

The first drilling rigs for the extraction of salt were built in 1912. Two years later, hot water was discovered for the first time, which is now pumped into the Zurzach thermal baths. The approximately 17 metre high towers were decommissioned in the 1970s. Today, one of the drilling towers serves as a clubhouse for the gymnastics club, which can also be hired as a party room. Another contains a salt museum. Peepholes provide an insight into the inner workings of the drilling tower and information boards provide interesting facts about salt extraction. The brine pump can also be set in motion by pressing a button.

Guided tours of the salt museum in the drilling tower are also available.

Opening Hours
