Schwyzer Gipfel-Challenge: Vitznauerstock / Gersauerstock
Description
The Hinterberg cable car takes me to Hinterbergen. At Felmisegg, if you are lucky, you can see chamois grazing in the meadow in the morning. The hiking trail now climbs steeply uphill via the ladder to the summit. At the top on the left you come to an iron summit cross. The people of Gersau erected this for their mountain a few years ago. From this point you can see the magnificent Alpine chain and, of course, the village of Gersau in the valley. After a short moment of enjoyment, I immediately go to the summit cross of the Vitznauerstock. Here I enjoy the evening atmosphere and the view far into the Mittelland. I take a close look at the village of Vitznau, my home, from above. See if I can recognise the cross of the church, because since the last renovation it is aligned with the cross on the Vitznauerstock. After a while of enjoying and resting, I have a drink on the summit, which is a must up here. With this beauty of nature, I totally forgot the time. The sun is already low. So I quickly make an entry in the summit book. Now it's a steep descent to Oberurmi and on to Wissiflue. The woolly pigs at Wissiflue are still doing well. At Mähris I enjoy another magnificent panoramic view. The path leads me to the upper Rengg and then back to Vitznau.
You can find the tour to the summit here.
