Description

There are currently two exhibitions on the topics of "Because the little lamp still glows" and "The fire and reconstruction of Obermutten".

Because the little lamp is still glowing

Exhibition on the history of lighting with around 200 exhibits. In the old Walser house dating back to 1695, you can see 2000-year-old Roman oil lamps, a variety of tallow candles, various petrol, carbide and gas lamps. You will learn more about making fire, the cobbler's ball, the history of matchwood, the development of stereoscopy and the odyssey of the Muttner Bible. On 25 colour plates, you can read about the history of lighting in words and pictures in an easily understandable way.

The fire and reconstruction of Obermutten

17 wooden houses and stables fell victim to the village fire in 1946. The exhibition with over 25 professionally and informatively designed exhibition panels provides information about the fire and reconstruction with the help of donations.

Village & church tours

In summer, the Obermutten Walser Association offers village tours through Mutten, Stafel, Obermutten and to and in the wooden church of Obermutten on request.
