Lady Chapel
Description
Our Lady of Einsiedeln: In the 1930s, there were calls for the Antonius Chapel to be extended or replaced by a larger one. In March 1936, the Altishof parish priest Kurmann, as the client, applied to the Nebikon municipal council for a building permit. In the following months, however, the project struggled with difficulties.
The federal government held out the prospect of a subsidy of CHF 4,500 to combat unemployment - if the canton and municipality also made a contribution. Both declined for financial reasons.
In July 1936, the municipal assembly decided to subsidize the chapel after all, and at the beginning of March 1937, the municipal council issued the building permit. Work began on March 11 and the chapel was consecrated in 1938. It is still used regularly today.
