Glaubenberg moor landscape
Description
Landscapes with an above-average moorland character are called moor landscapes. Particularly large and significant moors are ""of national importance"". Some 125 km2 in size, the Glaubenberg moor landscape is the largest such moor in Switzerland, stretching between the Pilatus chain in the north and the Glaubenbielen Pass in the south.
It's a typical flysch moor terrain featuring a high proportion of forest, alpine pasture and distinct, unusable areas (ditches, landslides). The moor landscape owes its beauty to the diverse mosaic of flat and raised bogs, woodland, woody plants and clumps of dwarf shrubs.
