Gebiet Sardona-Segnas-Gruppe
Description
The mountain with the sonorous name Piz Sardona, located at the border of the cantons of St. Gallen, Glarus, and Graubünden, gave its name to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tectonic Arena Sardona. Verrucano rocks lie directly atop the thin band of Lochseiten limestone and the flysch rocks. Toward the Calfeisental and Flims regions, glaciers can be found that have significantly decreased in both length and volume in recent years. In their forefield, you can observe beautiful moraines, glacial striations, and gravel plains.
