Folk Museum

Description

Topics addressed in the museum include the Silvesterchläuse mummers, the Alpfahrt cattle drive, the life of the mountain herder, rural-style painting and string music. Experience the ancient mumming custom and the traditional music of the region with “Talerschwingen” and the hammered dulcimer or zither. Guided tours on the living customs and traditions of the Appenzellerland available in several languages on request. Workshop “Natural Yodelling”: an Appenzell yodeller teaches you natural yodelling and Talerschwingen. Workshop “Discover the Customs and Traditions of the Appenzellerland”: hands-on session for children and young adults to learn about the customs of the region.
