Depotführung Brienz Rothorn Bahn
Description
Enjoy a tour of the depot and discover what needs to be done to ensure that the steam locomotives run perfectly each day. Learn just how much work is required to keep the historical technology of the Brienz Rothorn Railaway running smoothly. Ask the professionals questions about steam technology.
When the Brienz Rothorn Railaway launched its service in 1892 it was a very different time, but its historical technology still performs reliably today. Some hours before departure, a fire is started in the boiler and the locomotive is prepared. Some of the locomotives are completely dismantled, repaired, oiled and carefully reassembled during the winter months. During the railway's operational months in the summer, further inspections and checks are carried on an ongoing basis. When you visit the depot, the steam technology is all around you and can be smelt as well as seen. The smell of soot, oil and coal is always in the air. Watch the locomotive drivers and heaters inspecting the locomotives and preparing them for service. If you would like to find out more about steam technology, a capable guide and the staff of the Brienz Rothorn Railaway will be pleased to answer your questions.
